Autumnal Splendor

1 09 2009

Fall has always been my favorite time of the year…I can’t wait till summer’s heat has passed and the crisp, clean air of fall sweeps in with the smell of woodsmoke, apples and drying leaves.

I love the excitement of getting new school supplies: new books with unbroken bindings and crisp, uncreased pages; new glossy pens filled with thick ink; smooth, empty notebooks.

I adore cuddling up in thick nubbly sweaters and broken-in jeans when the air turns cold. One of my favorite things to do is curl up in a big chair with a cup of tea and a book while wearing an oversized sweater, the window cracked open slightly so the scents of autumn can float in.

Woodsmoke, crisp apples, drying leaves, hefty pumpkins, golden hues of late summer fading into rusty fall…these are the things that I love about this time of year.
